Crown mouldings add a regal touch to any room or cabinet. They might look fancy, but they’re easier to install and repair than you might think, this guide will show you how.
Before you start, ensure that you have everything you need:
- Crown moulding pieces
- Paintbrush
- Paint or varnish
- Mitre saw
- A pencil
- a spirit level
- a tape measure
- a ladder
- UniBond’s Smoother and Cutter tool
- Masking tape
- UniBond No More Nails Original grab ahdesive
- Sandpaper
Make sure to wear goggles and gloves when cutting the crown moulding material.
- Choose the right moulding pieces. Look out for any splits or deep milling marks as these will be tough to sand out and choose moulding pieces that all have the same stain.
- Apply masking tape to the walls and ceiling so that about half an inch of the tape will be covered by the rail trim. Then mark the positions with your pencil.
- Create a template. Use a mitre saw to cut a moulding piece and use this as a template so that all of the pieces join at the right angle, then start to install each piece using UniBond No More Nails Original.
- Remove the masking tape after you’ve finished installing the crown mouldings. Run a sharp knife or UniBond’s Smoother and Cutter tool lightly along the rail to remove the tape.
If your crown mouldings are damaged you can fix them in no time, with UniBond No More Nails Original grab adhesive.
