GETTING STARTED WITH CROWN MOULDINGS

Before you start, ensure that you have everything you need:

  1. Crown moulding pieces
  2. Paintbrush
  3. Paint or varnish
  4. Mitre saw
  5. A pencil
  6. a spirit level
  7. a tape measure
  8. a ladder
  9. UniBond’s Smoother and Cutter tool
  10. Masking tape

  12. Sandpaper

Make sure to wear goggles and gloves when cutting the crown moulding material.

HOW TO INSTALL CROWN MOULDINGS

  1. Choose the right moulding pieces. Look out for any splits or deep milling marks as these will be tough to sand out and choose moulding pieces that all have the same stain.
  2. Apply masking tape to the walls and ceiling so that about half an inch of the tape will be covered by the rail trim. Then mark the positions with your pencil.
  3. Create a template. Use a mitre saw to cut a moulding piece and use this as a template so that all of the pieces join at the right angle, then start to install each piece using UniBond No More Nails Original.
  4. Remove the masking tape after you’ve finished installing the crown mouldings. Run a sharp knife or UniBond’s Smoother and Cutter tool lightly along the rail to remove the tape.
