Preparing before hanging a mirror without nails

So, you’ve decided to hang a mirror without nails or drilling. What next? It might seem like a daunting prospect, but all you need is the right adhesive and a little preparation. These are the first steps:

1. Measure your mirror. Note that large mirrors may need to be held in place with mirror clips or L hooks, so the ‘no nails’ method may not be suitable for all mirrors.
2. Double-check the location. Are you 100 percent sure that this is where you want to hang the mirror? Mirror adhesive is extremely strong; removing it will strip the paint off the wall and potentially damage the drywall. Better to get it right first time!
3. Clean the mirror and wall. All surfaces should be completely free from dust and dirt.
4. Mark the mirror’s position using a board. Place a board directly beneath the area where you plan to hang the mirror. Stick the board in place with masking tape and then place the mirror above the board and check it with a level. Alternatively, use painters’ tape and a pencil to mark the position for the mirror.
   

How to hang mirror on a wall without nails: Step by step

Now you’re ready to get out the glue. Ideally, ask another person to help you with the next stages, especially if you’re working with a larger mirror. Here’s how to hang a mirror on a wall without nails.

1. Get your glue. We recommend UniBond No More Nails Waterproof, a strong and easy-to-use adhesive that doesn’t require a cartridge gun. 
2. Apply the glue to the back of the mirror. Use lines of glue that are about 2-3 inches long, placed at regular intervals all around the back of the mirror. Add a few lines of glue in the middle too. Don’t apply glue too close to the edge of the mirror, in case it seeps out.
3. Put the mirror in place. An extra pair of hands (and eyes) is helpful here. For perfect positioning, use a level.
4. When you’re sure the mirror is straight, press it firmly into place. Secure it with mirror tape or a supporting object such as a piece of wood until the glue has cured. To be on the safe side, keep the support in place for at least 24 hours.
